XP Login Screens

XP Login Screens are the screens you see when you are logging on to XP.

Changing them does require some 'messing' about, or you can download ChamelonXP to make things a little easier (Click Here for more info on this).

OK, if you have decided to take the plunge and do this 'manually' here are the steps:

  1. Backup your entire PC - burn all of your important files to disk or CD - Mail copies to relatives just in case yours are destroyed (Don't say we did not warn you).
  2. Even if you skip the above step be sure to backup the current boot screen - logonui.exe file (Probably in c:\windows\system32\logonui.exe).
  3. Download whichever file you like and copy/extract the new logonui.exe file to any directory other than the one above.
  4. Reboot your computer into 'Safe Mode' (Hitting F8 before the boot screen does this).
  5. Copy the new logonui.exe file to the original directory (Of course you have backed up the original logonui.exe file right?).
  6. Reboot the computer again as you normally would.
What a pain huh?...........................But well worth it.

Please note, we have not checked out all these packages and they remain the property of their respective owners (Please also note that some of these packages are "Shareware" and may require a payment to their creator. In this case it is your responsibility to make the appropriate payment to the author. We do not act as a broker between you and the owners of these programs).
